Children’s Houses

We have three Montessori classrooms (called “Children’s Houses”) at Children’s Workshop. These classrooms are designed for a three-year age mix, with allows for both individual and social development. Children work at their own pace in this specially furnished environment.

Consistency is an important element of Children’s Workshop.

All of our programs are 5 days a week.

• 9-month school-year program (September to May)
• 12-week summer program (June to August)
• Half day program 8:30 a.m. to noon
• Full day program for 5-6 year olds: the children are in the classroom all day (8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
• Full day program for 3-4 year olds: The children are in the classroom 8:30-Noon, Noon-3:30 p.m. consists of outdoor play, lunch, story time and a rest time.

Our curriculum is specially developed for children ages 2 ½ years old through kindergarten and includes:

• Practical life activities along with sewing, art, and music that help the children develop independence and refine their motor skills;
• A complete set of Montessori materials for the development and refinement of the child’s senses;
• Language activities for vocabulary enrichment, reading and handwriting;
• Mathematics activities for early learning (number recognition and understanding the concept of quantities), decimal system work (all 4 math operations), and fractions;
• The Lessons of Grace and Courtesy which are hundreds of small lessons to give the children social skills for living peacefully in community with others.
