Gardening and the Great Outdoors I & II
June 2- June 13
We will celebrate the long awaited arrival of summer by planting our gardens, filling the birdfeeders, and enjoying sand and waterslide play. We will have lessons on botany and examine parts of a flower and seed. Each child will hand-paint a pot and seed a plant to bring home or design a plant pigment dyed tote bag.
Birds, Bees, Butterflies and Bugs I & II
June 16-June 27
Our gardens are growing and it is time to uncover all of the creatures that come to visit it! We'll learn about the different species of birds in MN, examine insects, and move and groove to the "Chicken Dance" and "Rockin' Robin". Children will witness the life cycle of the butterfly and as we watch larva develop into beautiful Painted Lady butterflies.
America: Home of the Brave I & II
June 30-June 11
During this session we will celebrate our country's history and independence. We will learn patriotic songs and have a parade on the playground with USA beach balls, a piņata and musical instruments. Police officers, firefighters and a lifeguard will visit Children's Workshop to share safety tips, demonstrate safety equipment, and answer any and all the questions children have for these real heroes.
Theater and Puppets
July 14- July 25
Creativity and self-expression unfold during this session as we make masks, sew puppets, memorize poems to recite, play charades, and ride the bus to the Old Log Theater and see a performance of Charlotte's Web! Children will explore performance arts and have opportunities to perform in front of each other.
Pint-Sized Scientists
July 28-August 8
Calling all future scientists! Do you want to be an archaeologist, a geologist, biologist or chemist? During this session our Children's Houses will become science labs. We've designed hands-on activities for children to explore physical science concepts including buoyancy, magnetism, light, and gravity. We will experiment with simple machines, examine fossils, launch rockets, and even make volcanoes!
Kids' Cuisine
August 11-22
Children will learn about nutrition, chop, toast, cook, blend and bake during this session. In addition, we will read recipes, write grocery lists, and refine culinary senses by doing taste tests with a variety of fruits, vegetables, spices, and herbs.
